A Nod Toward God

Every day a nod toward God.
Naming makes it smaller.
Reaching for it denies the Presence.
Reading assigns it to the author's hands.
Writing starts a focus,
but it's not in the words.
Singing praises is a start.
Admire the loving source.
You are not alone.
Knowing, or not knowing,
is all that is ever happening.
Being is the nod towards God.
Start like a seed with a small split.
Every moment rendered completely,
 widens the gap.
One day, the seed breaks
and the beauty shines yourself back at you.

A Tidbit of Acceptance

Sometimes Acceptance, yours and mine, is a hard task involving throwing out things and reorganizing your thinking. It can be. But it is also alive in small steps, even humorous, so ordinary, that you may overlook them. Overheard at the office: "You look really nice today." Reply: "Oh, but I spilled yogurt on my pants." Reply, smiling: "You look good in yogurt." We all laughed and there was ease.

The Quiet

The sparrow sits on a bird feeder,
 but never relaxes.
At any time, a hawk may slip down
and end it's dinner.
You though, have the luxury of safety.
Sit quietly, in your own room and to talk to God.

Why should your sitting time
be lost in movies about your prowess
or your progress?
There is no end to musings about your day.
Go into the quiet. Sink into it.
Own it. It is your Self.
You have longed for the silent,
the retreat,
the peace.
Find it now and it may follow you around.
